Jonathan Cohen
As a commercial real estate analyst at Aztec Group, Inc., Jonathan Cohen is responsible for evaluating commercial real estate, specifically multifamily assets, land development and distressed debt. Primarily, he creates financial models and proforma valuations for acquisition, disposition, and recapitalization. Since
joining Aztec in 2006, Cohen has been involved in over $350 million in transactions representing multifamily and commercial real estate investment sales. He also takes an active role in evaluating distressed mortgage portfolios, all levels of debt in the capital stack, loan workouts and the recapitalization of real estate assets. In 2007, Cohen underwrote and analyzed the potential recapitalization and repositioning of distressed debt valued in excess of $250 million.
Prior to joining Aztec, Cohen held a research internship at CB Richard Ellis in Toronto, Ontario. Cohen was a contributing member of CBRE’s Canada Market Output, a monthly publication dealing with real estate perspectives on cities across the nation. Cohen holds an Honors Bachelor degree with a concentration in Urban Development and Real Estate Finance from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada. Cohen has been a South Florida resident for 2 years, after moving from Toronto, Canada where he was born. He is a former member of the Toronto District Council for the Urban Land Institute, an active participant in the Miami Jewish Federation and is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the State of Florida.
